LS1 Question

I PROMISE I tried the search function first. Does anyone know if the LS1 vette oil pan and accessories(including A/C) will fit in my 72 Super without the oil pan hanging down below the frame? I know the CTS-V oil pan works great (thanks to the posts on this great forum) But need to know about the Vette oil pan. All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks alot guys and gals.--Josh

the depth of the pan i don't see being the issue, its going to be the fins that kick out from each side of the vette pan. I don't know about this into a truck, but i have worked on many vette's and they are an odd shaped pan.

My engine came with a vette pan and front accessories

The vette pan doesn't work

The accessories will work. The A/C compressor is VERY close and I did just a little clearancing on the frame to get the refrigerant line to fit by.

It is my assumption, from meetings with Mark Campbell at Street and Performance, that the Vette pan is not good for the truck layout. You will either want the Camaro pan or the GM truck pan for your install. If the truck is lowered the aluminum truck pan hangs pretty low and could cause a dragging issue. There are aftermarket pans made by Milodon and Moroso that fit these engines too. Theyare pricey, but are made of metal instead of aluminum and the pan does not hang as low as the GM truck pans.

I did the LS1 swap in my 68' SWB stepside and decided to go with the Hummer oil pan and the alum. relocating motor mount bracket and had no problems.

I used the CTsV pan. Here's a few pictures and a link to the different pans.
