WOuld you replace these parts??
Doin the restore on the 71 and im putting my brake system back together. The booster looks to be ORIGINAL, along with the master cylinder. The MC may have been replaced but its hard to tell. The Booster is definetly OG.
Should i replace these? The brakes worked great when i took them off the truck. Just wanted to get some opinions. |

Re: WOuld you replace these parts??
It doesn`t take long for a booster or m/c to look old. They may not be that old. But,if this is a restoration I`d go ahead and change to have it all fresh. It`s not a whole heap of money to do.Also, with brakes,I go the thorough route unless in a pinch. With hydraulics it`s best to change cylinders at the same time to avoid a weakness.

Re: WOuld you replace these parts??
I'm going to go the other direction on this one. With the poor luck I've had and seen with parts store replacement parts like master cylinders, I think if it worked fine before.....I'd keep it! I've seen so many "new" and "rebuilt" MCs be bad right out of the box over the years. Just a thought.

I would replace everything with new parts and not go cheap for sure cheaper is not always better..Do it once perfect.

Re: WOuld you replace these parts??
Id say replace the M/C and the wheel cylinders at the very least. If the Booster goes out it will still stop itll just take a bit more effort. Good luck.
