What did you get done? 04/05
I spent Saturday watching my daughter play volleyball. She played in a local tournament that combined 17's and 18's. They swept their pool, and won every match but the final. They placed 2nd overall, and ranked 1st in 17's.
Today I installed a garage door opener. It seemed like a simple task, and for the most part it was. Regardless, it too me several hours to complete. Of course it didn't help that a had a bad pair of wires going to the manual button. It took three attempts to get all four remotes to sync. At one point I had a remote that would open one door and close another all with one button. It looked cool, but not a desirable option. What did you get done?

Re: What did you get done? 04/05
I picked up a 292 inline 6 for the 77 Friday (removed it from a junkyard truck). Saturday went to my nieces b-day party and just hung out. Sunday I helped a friend build his "rat rod" frame, then came home and swapped bench seats in the 77 and began the process up swapping out the rear step bumper for the standard sport bumper.

Sold the old 305 out my dads 86 scottsdale. Since the body is becoming the donor for the 4x4 project, no need for the motor. Oil change on the daily driver, and some good old studying.

Painted the seat frame and tracks for my '71 interior re-do as well as some 15x8 rallys.
swapped a sport bumper onto my '87, removed the crappy window tint and cleaned the bed out in preparation for selling it. Saturday was beautiful, Sunday brought the winter weather back, hid indoors all day.

Re: What did you get done? 04/05
Dragged home a 85 silverado a couple weeks ago and finally got a chance to clean it up a bit and do an evaluation
solid but ugly. I pulled the valve covers and found very few rockers pumping oil so it's rebuilt time the truck still runs but shows no oil pressure , don't know if its the gauge or what but she's gonna have to be torn down then I started putting my k-5 blazer back together . I had the interior out taking care of some rust issues then I dug into my latest folly ...a 1967 chevelle 300 2 door sedan I had one of these in my 30's and when I saw this one on craigs list I couldn't pass it up .....I should have but I didn't I don't know what comes over me sometimes anyway it's ugly rusty has a 6 cylinder with a 3 on the tree and for some reason I love it .... the sickness continues MArk

Re: What did you get done? 04/05
Left Friday and came home today . Sure was a fun weekend sitting in clumps of trees/brush and calling these guys up . My older son took this one with my 12 ga at about 35-40 yards . We could have had more but the range was a little far for my younger son since he was only using a 20 gauge .My wife even camoed up and went out Sat night and this morning . Other than hunting I worked on my Brother-in-laws old tractor and then hauled it home with me since I didnt get it fixed in west Tx .

Re: What did you get done? 04/05
I went to Portland to the Portland Swap Meet. I spent Thursday and Friday looking at old car parts in the rain. I found a couple pieces, but nothing astounding.
Yesterday I went to the U-pull-it yards around Portland with my cousin. The score for the day was a set of factory bucket brackets for $35 out of a 77 pickup.

'87 still at the body shop. Thanks LIZ for changing my sig!! My '87 doesn't have a "302" in it! She's too funny!
Spent some time today spring cleaning in the garage. Worked on the '86 Jimmy that had internal electronic issues with equipment. Got it back into good operational order.

Re: What did you get done? 04/05
we had kind of a rough weekend here as my son got into some trouble on thursday and i spent most of friday trying to get him bailed out of jail, but for once it wasnt his fault that he was arrested so i agreed to spring him.. after that two days, Sue and i decided to take saturday and shut off the phones and just hang low and relax. ( kids are the #1 killer of parents or step parents you know) so we didnt do much of anything plus it rained and was cold and cloudy the rest of the day
Sunday was pretty nice, so i finally took my tool box out of the storage room and dragged it downstairs to my daily truck ( i know its a ford) and we decided to go back to my ex wifes and sons house so we could take the granddaughter to see the easter bunny. I also decided to do the install of the cross rail box there and put the decals i have on it. Anyway we pull into lowes parking lot and they have a car show going so we had to stop there. Out of about fifty cars only one was a chevy and not our generation but i snapped some pics with the wifes cell phone anyway.. four pickups in total and only one was a chevy.. anywho after my son got out of work we took Torri to the mall and easter bunny and then my son washed my truck for me ( least he could have done) and we came home... not a bad day all in all tho

Looked at a new place to move the shop too with a little more room, Bank stuff and soda blasted some fenders for a 41 plymouth sedan project. Started playing around with the powdercoating system in hopes to have that up and running soon. Heres my test piece.

Re: What did you get done? 04/05
I picked up a 67-72 tailgate from a fellow board member on Friday. Super clean 2-tone copper/white from a 71-72 that's going to be used on my RetroRod project vs. the one I already had done (old, old, repop [?] w/a Mar-K full smooth cover).
I got about six good hours in @ the shop on Sat trying to finish up the lwb to swb conversion. I was really hoping to have it ready to flip & finish weld all the bottom side areas by today. But . . .... the GF was feeling neglected so I stayed in today for some quality time @ home w/her. Maybe this week I'll get it flipped & finished. Then I have another frame to do some 'quick' tweaks too for the GoodGuys 09 shows.

Re: What did you get done? 04/05
Well, didn't get much done to either of the trucks, but I did do something truck related for my diesel...Friday me and the neighbor took his trackhoe and flipped my trailer upside down and then he took the bucket and straightened the frame and the axle out...while it was upside down, I ran new wires for the lights and then welded up some places on the gate...then we flipped it back over...Saturday, I went and got a new wheel jack for the front and some new pins for the gate and went and spent $145 at Lowes for fittings, ball valves, and 30' of hose and then installed all of that on the 100 gallon propane tank that I'm converting to a wvo vacuum tank (there's the connection with the diesel)...then I took the trailer and the tank up to my shop and mounted some eyebolts through the floor and a support and shortened some ratcheting straps to hold down the tank...I also installed a set of box truck lights on the
trailer...so now the trailer is pretty much setup for picking up wvo...just need to get the head fixed on my compressor motor so I can get it hooked up and then I'll be done... Chuck. |

Re: What did you get done? 04/05
I traded my 350/TH350 for ball joints/seals/bearing on my 84. Great deal! $1500 worth of work only cost me something I was trying to get rid of. So my K10 will be on the road tomorrow!

Re: What did you get done? 04/05
Saturday, a friend wanted to borrow my trailer, so I pulled it out of the yard and aired up the tires. He passed until Monday, but since I had it by the garage, I re-boarded the dovetail (boards been off for 7 years, since the hold down got snagged and ripped off), including fabbing the hold-down for them. Got to use my circular saw, my drill, my welder, and my big grinder. Then I made ramps (the originals had migrated when the welds holding the bracket on failed, on the highway, in the dark, about 10 years ago) out of 2x oak and a little angle iron. That got the drill press involved. Then I fired up the lathe (first time since I bought it last August!) and made the oil puke tank for my live hydraulics conversion for my little Allis Chalmers.
How is that truck related? Well now I can haul home any "finds" and haul away any "debris". So when I find that clean cab... Sunday the whole family sanded 6 oak doors. Now the wife gets to stain them, then 3 coats of poly and I'll rehange them and we can move the girls into that room and redo the room they're in now.

Re: What did you get done? 04/05
I spent Saturday working a garage sale that was a fundraiser for the high school. It was to fund an after graduation party for the graduating seniors. Since I have one graduating, lucky me got to hang out there all day.
Sunday I got a replacement gauge bezel installed. The PO had painted the original one black, and I found a silver one and put it in there. Looks a lot better to me, but don't have pics yet. |

Re: What did you get done? 04/05
Spent most of the day Saturday cleaning and blasting the front suspension pieces of my '83 C-10. I got a deal on a pair of almost brand new Bell-Tech 3" spindles from a member here, and on Sunday put everything back together only to find out that they were for a 73-80 with 1.25 rotors. I kept looking at the part # when I was blasting themand something didn't jive, but continued on anyway. I'm not upset because I got a great deal on them, but I was a little ticked off that the shop he bought them from hosed him over and gave him the wrong spindle. Looks like I'm going to be buying a pair of 1.25 rotors and calipers. The original rotors were worn out and needed to be replaced anyway, and the calipers looked bad, too.

Re: What did you get done? 04/05
Wow, where to start. My mom passed away Wednesday night, she was 84, had a slew of health issues, and had been ready "to go" since my Dad passed nearly 5 years ago. Mom was in the hospital and according to a nurse (that was in her room at the time), Mom passed on in her sleep with a smile on her face. The funeral was Saturday, very nice up beat service. My religious beliefs along with my Mom's have me feeling very peaceful about her passing. I'm very thankful for that. Mom's sense of humor, cooking and practical jokes will be missed. She died on April Fools Day, she had to catch up with Dad and butter his nose, she had waited long enough.
Thanks for allowing me to share. Bryan
