My Army Surplus tank doesn't fit.
It's not even a Blazer tank for that matter. I purchased the straps and sending unit, and neither fit the tank. So all of it will be for sale soon. The tank I have is not as deep as the Blazer tank. I have removed my rear crossmember on my longbed and really need to figure what I'm going to use for a tank, soon. I've been reading all about everyone else's problems with these tanks not fitting right, and now I have one too. How does the CPP tank fit?

Re: My Army Surplus tank doesn't fit.
Problems with what tank fitting right? An Army surplus tank or a blazer tank? I'm unaware of any blazer tank fitment issues in the pick-ups, other than removing or trimming a bed cross member
Aside from fabbing up my own fuel door from a 88-98 silverado, the actual blazer tank install was one of the easiest modifications I've done to my truck.

Re: My Army Surplus tank doesn't fit.
The Army Surplus tank that was suppose to be a Blazer tank, but isn't. Now considering this one, if I had the dimensions of the room that I have to work with. Have to wait till I get to the shop in the morning, I guess.

Re: My Army Surplus tank doesn't fit.
jbristo- do you still want those headers? Yes, you do need to remove the last crossmember in the back. I supposedly purchased a Blazer tank but didn't get one. I'm not sure if I like how long they hang anyway. I just installed a c notch, so I will be sitting close to the ground.

Re: My Army Surplus tank doesn't fit.
Can you get that cross member out without taking the bed off. Is it riveted or bolted on I am going to have to find a cheaper option on the headers man. Thanks though. How did your C notch work did you have to do anything different where the spring mounts to the frame. When I looked at mine they looked awfully close?

Re: My Army Surplus tank doesn't fit.
I have the same tank you are talking about,I have the bed off,I trimed crossmember, I cut bed support,I cut 2 inch hole for fuel hose,I'm trying to fill through wheel well. Also the neck on tank will need to be bent down to clear the bed. It can be done. I'll let you know when I get it.

Re: My Army Surplus tank doesn't fit.
I have a SWB, so I can't speak for the LWB trucks, but on a swb you do not have to remove any frame cross members at all, you just have to trim the bed cross member.
If you have a wood floor truck, you can get the cross member out by loosening all of the bed bolts, tilting the back of the bed up, and slipping the cross member out (this is what I did on my truck) but unfortunately, if you have a steel floor, the cross members are spot welded to the floor, so the bed would most likely have to come off.
