455 question
I have heard that 455 Oldsmobile swaps were popular in our trucks. Is this true?
I have a 455 I took out of a car I put in the demolition derby, without that motor of course. It ran great and shifted good, it's still hooked up to the 400Turbo.

i think it has to do alot with supply and demand the given area , here in so cal , people see a briggs and stratton and will pay big money for it... 200 isnt a bad price, however most people will see it out of a car and only want to pay core prices for it bacause they cant hear it run or test drive it.. if its what you have , then use it!! hope this helps..

Yeah I think your right. The thing is, a 455 is in that catagory that you kinda expect to rebuild it because it's going in something you want to look nice.
I'm putting a 400 in my truck, and I'm not sure what the mods are needed to fit the 455. I see 350 blocks selling all day long for $100 and used 350's needing to be rebuilt for $200-$300 and that's without a tranny.

455 olds is fairly easy to put in just buy the motor mounts for the olds 350 desiel and a BOP bolt patter trans and your good to go.
thats what i did with my 82 grand prix when the desiel exploded. but i used a olds 350 same as a 455 just 2" shorter and narrower (the BBO have a 1" taller deck hight then the SBO)
