Removing 700R4 Shifter Rod
I am trying to remove the shifter rod in my 700R4 tranny. I removed the manual detent spring, 5/8 nut off the shifter rod and the shaft retainer. I just cant get the inside detent lever to seperate off of the shifter shaft. Any ideas??

I tried to put a set of vise grips on the outside portion of the shaft and tap it out, but it never moved

Re: Removing 700R4 Shifter Rod
Well it is installed, but now a new problem. The new shifter lever didn't have a nut on it. I bought both a fine threaded nut and course nut and neither will start on this shaft. Is there anything special about these shafts? Anyone know the pitch of the threads?
