Can you still buy r12 ac recharge kits? If not how do i convert my 87 to the new stuff. I just hope it dont coast a lot lol

Sure you can still buy R12... if you take an EPA certification course and pass the test. I did it a few years ago. Forget how much it cost, but it was less than a pound of R12 freon.

Now I've got a 30lbs cylinder and a case or two of 12oz cans in the garage collecting dust.... just in case.

buy a retrofit kit, flush the system, buy a new receiver/dryer, add PAG oil, recharge

You can pick up R12 at most parts stores around here. After R134a became popular the price of the R12 dropped to less then R134a.
I used to know of shops that had good luck just adding the retro fit kit, oil and R134a to a R12 system after they sucked it down. It is not the excepted way, but if it works. or do as grinch4om said.
