Converting to posi???

I was wondering if any of you all had converted a regular rear end to a posi at a reasonable price. I know you can buy the posi unit from summit and jegs for a chunk of change, but I was hoping there was a more reasonable way to do so. Any info you have on how to do this, where to buy the parts, pics, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Riley

sure did . Have done it several times. This one is a detroit locker. Paid $75 from the junkyard for the complete rear end. Then I swapped the carrier into my housing. Took a couple of hours.

posi

Not everyone is as lucky or as mechically inclined as mikep .I'm glad I am.$50 junkyard rear with bad bearing and axels.$103 new carrier, pinion, axel bearings, seals, grease and limited slip additive. I think i"ll put some fresh scatch marks out tomorrow and let the 5.0s know mighty mouse has been out of the shed. You should see how they act when they get dusted by and old truck put together out of parts.ie All doors fenders hood etc are different stock colors . They call it spot.
