Re: 1970 Big Block Rochester WANTED
It helps to know the code stamping you need. I did a little checking and it should at least start with 7040, the rest of the code is for emmisions (either a 2 or 5), Division (Chevy is 0, 1 or 2), and tranny (automatic is even#, Manual is odd#) There are other differences and codes too, but this should be a start. You could probably try sites like summitracing.com also. I think they have replacement carbs.

The number on the Rochester carburetor that I would like to replace is 7040206. If you have one rebuilt with this numbers please reply.

Re: 1970 Big Block Rochester WANTED
I have a 800 Quad from a 1977 caddy. I had it re-manned by Jet performance and has only a 1000 miles. great carb for good gas milage if u stay off the secondaries. I paid $350 for the work by Jet. it's a non emissions. give me a couple of days to think it over.

Re: 1970 Big Block Rochester WANTED
Be careful about the linkage. It's different for a small block to a big block.

Re: 1970 Big Block Rochester WANTED
Check with Mr Carburetor in Dallas. He keeps a lot of old Q-Jets around just for requests like this. I'd bet he would ship to you.
His # is 972-291-1101

Re: 1970 Big Block Rochester WANTED
I have a '70 BB QJET: 7040206. It is a nice carb, but if you want the correct # carb & rebuilt...you should consider buying one and sending it to a "good" carb shop for rebuild.
I think you are going to find it hard just finding a '70 BB carb. Let me know if you are interested. |

Re: 1970 Big Block Rochester WANTED
Here is carb. Complete & correct, good original color (not bead blasted by cheap rebuilder), nice clean butterflies and inside. It is USED in good condition. Of course there is no guarantee it will run without fresh kit/build.
What you are buying is the correct # rare carb with all the pieces intact... $100 shipped |

Re: 1970 Big Block Rochester WANTED
The linkage shown in the photos is the bb linkage. 7040 is for a 1970. If the 206 is for a big block, you should buy it. I spent a long time looking for the correct carb for a 71 BB after the pos stole my original.

Re: 1970 Big Block Rochester WANTED
71super or anyone else interested in this carb. I want to make very clear that this is considered a used "rebuildable" "core", complete with no damage, but the front plug is epoxied and it is NOT NOS. The value is in the number correct BB '70 rare carb, not in the running or working condition of the carb...that is unknown.
If you are not willing to have this carb professionally rebuilt, if needed, I recommend you pass on it. Thanks for understanding, Frank |
