Getting started again
Well its been quite a few years since I have started another project. I do have a couple that are in the middle of deconstruction.
A couple of weeks ago CG and I traded our projects to each other. He got my old 41 Caddy and I got his 71 C10 4x4. Well this week I had an old friend of mine do some patch panel work for me. My welding skills are on the dangerous side. Pic 1 & 2 are what CG and I traded for. Pic 3 & 4 are the typical original rockers after 38 years of sitting out in the NW rain.

Re: Getting started again
After a couple of hours he had the right hand side done and the left side stripped down and found that the lower pillar on the left side was wasted also.
Pic 1 & 2 Right side completed Pic 3 & 4 Left side torn down. Next week replacing the kick panels.

oldiron, what a great looking start.
What are your plans for it? Are you keeping it black?

Re: Getting started again
I plan on fixing the few rust spots then repaint it black including the dash.
I'm also going from a 4 speed manual to a 350 turbo as the 4 speed has bad bearings and I need to match the rear end ratio to the front axle ratio. (3:07 vs 3:73 )

Re: Getting started again
Well got the rust issues done.
Both rockers, left hand lower cowl, and both kick panels replaced. Next swap the broken 4 speed for a turbo 350.

Re: Getting started again
Dennis, Nice job...did you do the kick panels...or did you have some help? Did you spot weld the kick panels to the vertical rib between the cowl and the kick panel?

Had lots of help. A friend of mine Bill ( no CG not the same Bill ) do the welding. He has been doing it for 40 years. I was not there the day he put in the kick panels in.
