plug gap help?
recently changed plugs in my 72 cheyenne with a 350v8. i installed 44's and gapped at .035. a friend said because its now a hei ignition that it should be gapped larger. anyone verify this? dave

It does not have to be gapped larger - but now you CAN gap them larger
I have mine set at .045

Larger gap w/a hotter coil = better spark. The coil for an HEI is hot enough for a .045 gap.

IIRC, when GM 1st came out with the HEI, the gap was.060".
It didn't take them very long to close it up to .045". I'd go with .045", as others have recommended.
