Re: 73-87 stereo system pics

Here's what I have, no subs yet.

The Amp powers the 6x9's and the 6.5s. The head unit powers the dash speakers.

These are mounted in the rear cab corners, facing up.

Re: 73-87 stereo system pics

I think I made up my mind for the 6.5s the will go in the kick panels mounted in ply would angled up like the kick panels for speakers then covered, and eventually I'll add a better receiver since this one only has pre amps for the rear speakers, and with a little more power all around

Re: 73-87 stereo system pics

i hate hacking the dashes. since i have a big IPod classic and Pandora on my blackberry, I am going w/ one of those "3 hole" radios that is IPod eady. i never use CDs any more anyway. i am using a kicker, 6X9s behind the seat and dash speakers in the factory locations.

I even thought about gutting some old Pioneer TSX8 or TSX7s that we used to put behind the seat in highschool and updating them w/ some state of the art speakers. i like the retro (i am 40) look.

wont be perfect sounding , but i like the flowmasters better than music anyway!

Are those 3 1/2" speakers you have stuffed in the dash? I am thinking about installing the same set up in my 82

hey red 69, the tape in the deck is an oldies compilation of lowrider music. I went to walmart the other day and bought an mp3 cassette adapter for it and now I can plug in my zune and have alot more variety of music, w/o hauling my tapes around, haha..........

Re: 73-87 stereo system pics

i don't know if somebody already said this but for the speaker box that has the chevy logo i would put an amp behind the logo and have a red neon light so the logo glows

Re: 73-87 stereo system pics

I'll will be using a blue neon, maybe when I get another amp I will add it in there, and the base with little 10s hits a lot harder than before, and 6.5 sound good even know there it the floor and they might sound better once there in a pod

I didn't know what your set up looked like. I do like it though. Oh so cleanly done.

Here is mine, waiting to be installed. Not pictured are the 4x6 factory door speakers I will be installing...just finished restoring the brackets & covers and modifying the door panels I already had to make them fit.

S&M Electro Tech in Blaine Minnesota. Everything but the exterior is brand new. New modern digital tuner, MP3, etc..

Was somewhat spendy, but well worth it IMO.
