1967 C-10 stock rim/wheel width

Does anyone have the specs for the stock (factory) wheels that came with 1967 C-10s? I know they are 6 lug, 5 1/2" pattern but I am trying to see what size tires will fit and I can't tell if the rims are 5" or 5 1/2" wide. The rims currently have 6.50-16 LT on the front and 7.00-16 LT on the rear. I need to replace them (they won't pass inspection) but most of the sizes require 5 1/2" minimum wheel width. I am looking at either P215/70R16 or some LT 215/85R16. I just need to get something on that will pass inspection and let me drive it for a while until I decide what to do next. I have found some good used tires but don't want to buy them and find out the rims are too narrow. I can take one wheel off the truck and take it to a tire shop and have them measure but I thought maybe someone would know and save me the trip. I can't seem to find that info anywhere.

Thanks

Re: 1967 C-10 stock rim/wheel width

Welcome to the board from sunny Seattle! There were many options on the '67 trucks including 15, 16, 17.5, and 19.5 inch rims. The stock most common was the 15x6 measured bead to bead. Check your SPID on the glove box door to see what your truck originally came with.

Your 6.5-16's were also an option on the '67's so those could be the stock wheels and the tire size is correct.

BTW...the tires were 7.75-15 (197mm) or 8.15-15 (207mm).

Re: 1967 C-10 stock rim/wheel width

Thanks. I'll look at the SPID when I get home but I know it is starting to come off of the glovebox door. Hopefully what I am looking for is still there. I just got the truck from CO and it has the big 6.50 and 7.00 tube tires on it. They are pretty much dried out so I know they won't pass NY inspection.

Re: 1967 C-10 stock rim/wheel width

Go to a junk yard and get some 225-75 16's for about $10-15 each. Those wheels should be the stock wheels with clips to hold on the hubcaps. Keep the wheels and find some stock "dog dish" caps, clean'em paint'em and run'em. I think the old dog dish caps look really nice on a stock truck.

Good luck and most of all...have fun!
