Diamond plate rear bumper for 71 short fleetside

Hello Folks,
Anyone have any thoughts on the diamond plate step bumpers!
I have a '71 short bed fleet side truck and and no too fond of the
imatation "sport bumpers" they seem to dent a bit around the
bumper bolts and look "tacky"
I would like to install a diamond plate step bumper and see that JcWhitney and LMC sell these...JcWhitney state for "long bed only", LMC does not make that reference. They are both listed for almost the exact same pricing...
I would like some opinions and or other options...THANKS!!!

Re: Diamond plate rear bumper for 71 short fleetside

I personaly do not like them myself. They will start rusting where the diamond plate meets the body of the bumper. Usualy within about 3 months. Work on your brackets some by flattening out the bumps on the ends of the inner bracket and use a washer between the bracket and bumper. This should eliminate the dimpling that occurs to the bumper. I have been screaming at the manufactures about this problem and they have yet to fix their tooling. WES

A diamond plate bumper will bend very easily. You want a tube steel bumper, like 4x6 layed flat.Try to dimple that!
