Do you get alot of compliments on your truck?

I get many compliments on my truck atleast once a week from strangers at random places. Example, today while at a Mcdonalds drive thru (I know I know, I was hungry and it was close), an older guy gets out of his car, walks over and says "Is that an 86?!" Me: "nope 87" and he continues to compliment the truck and talking about the ones he had. He knew his stuff about the square body but I also get random compliments from people who don't.

It shocks me, my truck is just a basic looking truck with rust. My previous truck, a lifted cleaner 78 f150 with bright new yellow paint, I got compliments but no where near the amount of the chevy.

Does this happen to you guys?

I get compliments and haters. Mostly Compliments though. So people think the paint is kinda strange. Orange Rhino Liner. Hey I didn't do it but I am not ready to undo it either. I plan on rocking it until the cracks get bad. That's the only problem with rhino liner on a truck.

Re: Do you get alot of compliments on your truck?

I have not had mine out since it was a stock rusty ol' truck. But even then I did get some people telling me it was cool, or my favorite..."hey, you don't see many of those anymore." The people that have seen it lately (in the garage) say things like "wow, how are you gonna drive it that low?" Even my in-laws who think I am nuts for customizing vehicles have told me that they like it, it's clean. Those are the ones that make me smile.

Very little comments at all. The ones I do get are usually about how they dont like the diesel and how ignorant they are. After it gets painted it should get a lot more compliments.

Re: Do you get alot of compliments on your truck?

I get the general good compliments. Though the ones that seem above and beyond are the ones from the guys I see around from Year One. They'll stop and well talk about it for about 10 mins or so and they all hope to see it at the next cruise in they're having. I've talked to the same one guy 3 or 4 times now and he still likes it, well I'll tell ya, I like it too. I can't blame them though.

Re: Do you get alot of compliments on your truck?

Considering that it is nothing to look at, I've got neighbors that would kill to have my truck. I don't know if it's the fact that it's a factory 454 shortbed or they like the dual spotlights or the loud exhaust. Take your pick.

Re: Do you get alot of compliments on your truck?

Only once. Right after I got the 454 running decent I took it out for a cruise. I think it was a Sunday late afternoon. I turned down a side street into an Industrial Park, went to the dead end and turned around. I figured it was deserted, no cops, so I did a couple quicky burn outs. Then I stood on the brake and let 'em rip for about 30 seconds or so. Left about 50' long black stripe and tons of smoke. When I got off of it I heard a bunch of people cheering. I forgot there was a hand carwash place right there. Ooops.

One of the biggest things I get is a question "You wanna sell that, or is that truck for sale" To which my response is most of the time, No that is my baby, and I am not sure you could afford it.

Re: Do you get alot of compliments on your truck?

One of the nice things about owning a relatively beat-up 4x4 is that people look at it and think "Ya know, I don't think it would bother him to much to get a couple more dents in that thing."

It's handy when some moron in a very nice, yet relatively smaller car starts honking from behind because you're not turning into heavy traffic like he wants you to because he needs to save 0.045 seconds by wedging himself into the traffic flow where he barely fits. I mean he has a Mercedes so he doesn't need to obey the laws like the rest of us commoners.

The look on his face is priceless when he sees the reverse-lights come on because, as I said before, he's thinking "Ya know, I don't think it would bother him to much to get a couple more dents in that thing."

Just remember to put it back in 'D' before hitting the gas.

Matt

Not compliments as much as really confused looks......I get some pretty funny stares at stoplights, "that sound can't be coming from that ol' truck can it?"

Many kind and encouraging words so far, both verbally or without saying a word. When the wife and I go anywhere, be it at the store, a restaurant, or gas station, someone is usually standing there looking at her. Since I don't run with a hood, it's kind of like an open house I guess. Even had a lady looking at the engine bay say "that shiny thing sticking up there is pretty". Gotta love um

Yeah It's funny sometimes, people would ask "where is your hood" and I say I this model didn't come with one, or I couldn't afford that option.

I think some prudes really hated the mising hood, which made it even more fun, so I ran it like that for a year rain, sleet and snow with no problems.
There was always a crowd around it, and I got asked "wacha got in there"
even more than with the hood on.
I will have to do that again on somthin, good times.
