Sparkplugs for HEI

I honestly have searched but dang if I can find it.

Gonna switch my 70 GMC stock 400 bb to HEI this weekend.
(THANKS to those about Skip White parts!!).
I know I'll need new plugs. Would like to stick w/AC Delco.
Which plugs work best.

TIA.....don t. ....

Re: Sparkplugs for HEI

R45TS is a popular AC Delco part number.

Re: Sparkplugs for HEI

Thanks for the part number. Got everything else done cept for the plugs. I went to Napa this afternoon. I compared the Autolite 145 that is currently in the truck to the R45TS. The R45TS plug is a 1/4" longer. Im thinking to long is not good. but didn't know for sure and left w/o buying any, firgured I'd check here.

TIA.....don t. .....

Re: Sparkplugs for HEI

I may be wrong on this, but the only difference between HEI and non for spark plugs is the gap. I think HEI for a stock 400 is somewhere between .040-.060. I run my HEI 406 at .050.

That's my understanding, at least for my 350. Gapped at .035 with points, .045 with HEI.

The info that I have right at hand says R-44T, gapped at .045.

Re: Sparkplugs for HEI

Thank you for the info.
Planning on cleaning and regapping the current plugs to .045 and see what happens. If all is ok, I'll put AC plugs in later today.

Thanks again, I really do appreciate it.......don t. .....
