More. My seat is not done yet so I threw a cover on one of the old seats I had so I could test drive it... LockDoc

Man, oh man, that's a pretty truck. What kind of radio are you going with? It doesn't seem right to cut the dash in a truck like that.

Re: Well, the '71 is on the road....
WOW! Nice truck, Love two tones & damn nice bed.
I use a Custom Auto Sound. It is made so you don't cut the dash. The new ones have MP3 & other opts. I bought mine many years ago and have been very happy with it. It is basically a Kenwood w/10 disc changer, But I have a 500w 5 channel amp, that drives 2 10" subs, a pair of 6.5" front and 5.5" rears. A custom speaker enclosure behind the seat holds the 10s and 5.5" w/tweets & 6.5" in the doors. What nice is it rocks just enough for the small cab and when look inside all you see is an AM/FM shaft mounted cassette player. The rest is under the seat or behind. Don't worry to much that some punk wants to break in for a shaft mounted AM/FM. |

Re: Well, the '71 is on the road....
fantastic!!! Leon, she really has turned out nice!
my thoughts..... I think you should find an original am/fm for the dash. I know they are expensive, but that truck deserves it! heck, you may even have one stashed away in your expansive estate!!!!! seriously, beautiful truck. period.

Re: Well, the '71 is on the road....
I second tcb-1. If you can't settle for stock AM, then hold out for stock AM/FM. IMO that would look best in a truck that great!

Re: Well, the '71 is on the road....
Leon, that thing is beautiful!!!!!! Awesome work between you and your bodyman.
I'm in agreement with Doug, original AM/FM is the only way to go. BTW... is that factory tinted glass, aftermarket tinted glass, or aftermarket tint? Are are they even tinted at all? My eyes might be deceiving me....

Looks great. I have never seen anyone run a 69 or 70 hood on a 71 or 72 before, but it is cool looking.

Re: Well, the '71 is on the road....
Beautiful!!! Funny thing, I just got my 71 on the road today and my truck was originally the same colors as yours! How's that for a coincedence?
I would love to stay with the orange/white but mine was missing all the side trim and it's quite expensive to buy all new. For a stereo, you might do what I did. I put in an AM/FM CD player by making a bracket and hanging it below the dash. It's just to the left of the ignition so the keys don't dangle down on it. I couldn't get myself to cut the dash either. P.S. your truck is now my desktop backgound so I can look at it for at least a week! Bob
