what is this plug for (SM465)
 What is the plug on top of the trans, just above the backup light plug? Haven't seen another light it yet.

The plug is used to tell the TCS system when the transmission is in high gear.

ok, so what years was this used, and does this mean it's probably original to the truck? I know the truck came with the Heavy Duty Clutch option, but there is no listing of 4 speed. It was a 6 cyl originally.

Chevy had that system in 1970 but I don't know if your blazer came equipped. PROBABLY.
