Differences in ball joints
How do you tell the difference in 68 ball joints and 73 up ball joints just by looking at them? I've got a set of control arms with fairly fresh ball joints in them, but I don't know what year they are. I know these were running disk brakes and drop spindles at one time, so I don't know if they were converted to 73 and up or not. How do I tell? Thanks.

Re: Differences in ball joints
I think the stud is the only difference. The later ones are larger in diameter and have a larger nut.

Re: Differences in ball joints
Hmm. I don't have two to compare, so does anyone know the actual measurements on them?

Re: Differences in ball joints
if I remember right the later model is longer, and might be a bit bigger in diameter, to accept the disc brake spindle.
