Speakers

Has anyone put 6 1/2 in. speakers into their kick panels. Do you have any advice for doing this if it can be done.

I tried putting mine right into the sheet metal, There is a brace of some sort inside under the kickpanel, kept breaking off jigsaw hacksaw blades,So I had to stop cutting. Now I'm going the Kickpanel speaker mount route.

I've been thinking about it, but I keep hearing people say you have to move the e-brake pedal on the driver's side for them to fit. This scares me.

I have made a template for a small headliner piece that fits above the rear window that will host my 6 x 9 's. They just look to deep to try to put them in the kickpanels. My other 4" Boston Acoustics will be built into my center console.

You can get soem Q-Form pods to place down there, and put either a coax speaker or a system pack, which is a midrange and tweeter seperate in them.
They are made just south of you...here in Stillwater, Ok.....

Personally I would put them in the doors, The doors aren't part of any really important structure

I am getting the kick panels with provision for the 6 1/2" speakers in the next couple of days. I'll let you know how the install goes.

I snagged a console from a 74 blazer, I cut holes in it and am putting speakers from my 87 POS K-10. I think it'll look alright, but ya gotta have bucket seats to go this route.

Has anybody tried the retrofit stereo speakers that fit where the stock speaker was under the dash. I need more speakers in my 67 as the previous owner fitted some in the door, unfortunately in the rear of the door, so the sound is muffled by the seat. I am concerned that the kick panel mounts will get in the way of the dimmer switch on the floor and the e-brake handle. I'm not looking for kick-ass bass, just better sound than I have now (Panasonic DP800E 4 x 35W CD head unit) I suppose I could also cut the front end of the doors and put another set in, but don't want to if I can avoid it.

Instead of the "original" style speakers, I made an L-shaped bracket and attached it to the stud from the dash pad with a regular nut. I stuck two 4" speakers up there. It sounds pretty good, but I'm not the kind of person to go around setting off car alarms with my stereo system. I'd rather do it with the exhaust.
