Does my truck looks like a farmer truck?

I went to autozone to dump used oil. On the way out some kid pulled in a late model mustang. He asked what year was my truck. His gf and him liked the truck but in their opinion it needs to be slam and on 20s. Because right now it looks like a farmer truck. I laughed and told them that I don't like getto looking "bling bling" trend. We all laughed and I left. I have almost stock looking 69 c10 but why a farmer truck?

Personally, I like trucks to be and look like trucks, so at least to me it probably doesn't look like a farmer truck... Who cares what some boob in the AZ parking lot thinks?

Re: Does my truck looks like a farmer truck?

You should have said

"Yeah, it’s a farmer truck and I’m a farmer. Just watch me plow your A$$ over."

I probably wouldn’t have said that but if I had been in the truck and you had said it I would have definitely laughed.

Re: Does my truck looks like a farmer truck?

To some people a vehicle is nothing more than something to slap the latest trends onto and to others it`s about the vehicle without the trendy bling.
I don`t think eveybody should do the same thing.I like tryed and true because it all comes around to that. There`s new ways to change that up,too.But...there ain`t nothing wrong with a farmer truck. It`s a truck being a truck. You see..."There ain`t nothing wrong with FARMERS".I mean really, what`s so wrong about a farmer?I think there`s something wrong with being a brat that rides around in a Mustang thinking anything is wrong with farms, farmers,or farmer`s trucks.Time for a reality check.

Personally as an old hotrodder growing up on a farm, I like "farmer trucks". My 67 3/4 ton Chevy definitely is a farmer's truck and I take that as a compliment.

I would take it as a compliment also. Rather a farmer's truck than a "Guetto Truck"

Re: Does my truck looks like a farmer truck?

If you have a stock looking 69 truck, then yes it looks like a Farmers truck, or a Work truck, those are the only people who bought them. You didn't get concrete cowboys driving them until the late 70's early eightys (thanks alot John Travolta). might be why the early years are alot rarer, they got used. Oh by the way, they said they liked the truck, they would just make it different, I think some of you guy's might be a little sensitive here? Whether you do it or not, these things are built to work!!! Thats the reason most people like them !! you can pretty 'em up all you want, but believe me your sister will still ask you to help her move some stuff some time, depends on how good of a brother you are if you say yes

Re: Does my truck looks like a farmer truck?

tell him to think a little more about farm trucks when he eats his dinner. what would he eat if farmers drove fancy Mustangs instead?
I take this personally. you see, my truck was a farm truck. it was bought new from a farm implement dealer by a farmer. without my truck and countless others like it the people who designed the new mustangs would have probably died from hunger at a young age.

I, being a smarta$$ would have said "I was gonna get a car like yours but they just dont have the ability to haul 5400 lbs. or pull a 10,000 lb. trailer while at the same time being a rolling piece of American history, have a nice day"

Re: Does my truck looks like a farmer truck?

People tell me that my truck looks like an "Old Man Truck". Heck, my girlfriend even tells me this.

I take it as a compliment, since most people tell me I'm "too old for my age" as well.

And as far as being a farm truck, I'd reply, "Hell yes it is. I've got a quarter mile of barbwire in the back."

...which, I do.

And on that note, nevermind what a bratty kid in a mud-stain says. If I remember right, your truck has a big ol' Poncho in it? With atleast 300 rwhp? Remember - anyone can buy a fast car....And hey. Atleast they admited they liked it...

Re: Does my truck looks like a farmer truck?

Most younger people try and put 20's on everything, atv's, import cars, etc... the fact that they still liked your truck eventhough it's not exactly how they would have it says a lot about the timeless look of these 'farm trucks'!

on the other side of that, if his little pony wasn't even a GT, I darn sure wouldn't worry about what some guy driving a his little sister's car around town had to say about my truck!

Re: Does my truck looks like a farmer truck?

We had a couple over the other night...friends even, and the Mrs. asked "What's with the Sanford and Son in the driveway?" Of course she's a complete smarta$$, so I certainly didn't take it seriously. Actually I puffed my chest out with pride, knowing she doesn't 'get it'.

In our suburban neighborhood (where all the houses look the same) my truck is certainly the most unique landmark. My wife uses it for giving people directions all the time. Some may call it an eyesore...I say it's distinctive.

I've been called Sanford and Son a few times. I doesn't bother me at all.

No offense, but your truck doesn't look like any of the farm trucks around here...

I don't think the dude knew what a farm truck is supposed to look like.

Re: Does my truck looks like a farmer truck?

I would take great pride in having my truck called a farm truck when its done. After all, it was my grandfathers farm truck for over 30 years. It was basicly the 4th tractor on the farm pulling full hay wagons, gravity boxes ect. And never even huffed at doing any of it. Most of my cousins and I even learned how to drive a stick in this truck (while learning to pull the hay wagons and gravity boxes!). And i plan on giving it the same exact paint job with the white cab, just adding a very small amount of pearl just to make it pop out a bit. So if it does look like a farm truck, that would be a compliment in my book

Re: Does my truck looks like a farmer truck?

Alot of old International Harvester pickups actually had rear mounted PTO shafts! Now thats a farmers truck! I doubt there is a city boy alive that knows what that is even for, let alone that it was used to grind the feed that fed the hog that made the bacon he ate at Denny's that morning! Tell him to bring his "Rustang" back in 35-40 years and see if its held up as good as your pickup!

Yes, all the houses look the same with a lexus, bmw or late model suv parked in front. My truck will stay the same with maybe rally wheels when I switch to disc brakes.

if you don't want people to call it a farmer's truck, take off the roof marker lights and the mirrors.

Re: Does my truck looks like a farmer truck?

Not many or I might say none of the farmers i grew up with bought trucks like that. They bought Plain Jane Heavy duty trucks. Never a half ton. I don't ever remember any of them ever having Moulding. Split rims, farm made rear bumpers Yes So I would say it does not look like a farmers truck. He was probably a big city boyMost of the farmers had cadillacs and buicks for church. My prediction is a lot of people are going to wish they had not slammed these trucks in the future. Look at all the tri 5 chevy cars that got butchered. I like slammed trucks but I don't want one.

People call both my trucks "Uncle Jessie" trucks. I have to remind them that Uncle Jessie drove a Furd....not a Chevy
