Rear "cross member"
I am wondering what is the Techanical name for the rear Cross member is called. Its right before the rear axle and goes from one side of the chassis to the other.

You mean the one with the driveshaft hoop or the one just behind the axle? I dont know what the technical name is but the rear one is not needed.

yea that is above the axle. it is the rear shock mount brace. It appears someone did some modifications. Was your truck an original leaf spring? i see your leaf spring does not align with the cross member for your shocks to line up. I do not know what happened there. IMO it is not needed and i would cut it out completely i would weld/bolt another square tube like 2inx2in somewhere to mount the shocks at the proper angle. are those 2 bolts from both sides where your shocks were mounted? you should stick with those but i would still put another cross brace in there somewhere just to stiffen the frame up.

so all i need to do is get someone to weld a piece of metal to connect both sides, am i understand this right then? Any bends or anything i need to do also with this or not?

a piece of 2in square tube welded there will do fine. all you want to do is stop the frame from flexing. no bends.
