Ignition switch wiring
I'm putting in a new ignition switch and fixing some butchered wiring to it. It starts and runs fine. Just has some wires I don't know if they should be hooked up or what they go to. Here is what I have. Truck is a '72 Cheyenne C10.
Coming down to the switch, from the harness that goes over the gauge cluster, there are 6 wires: Red - connected to "battery" on switch Pink - connected to switch can't remember which terminal but works so I think is right Purple - connected to switch can't remember which terminal but works so I think is right Brown/Yellow - connected to "accessory" on switch Brown - thick wire - disconnected not sure where it should go Tan - thin wire -disconnected not sure where it should go Now on the switch there are also some wires not connected Terminal G1 has 2 green wires going to nothing Terminal G2 has 2 brown wires going to nothing and there is a second "battery" terminal with a red wire going to nothing. There is a second brown wire coming from "accessory" where the brown/yellow connects, but second wire is not connected to anything The ones in blue above are the ones in question. Any help is greatly appreciated! Let me know if anything is not clear or if I need to provide more info. Thanks! Alan

Re: Ignition switch wiring
There are a couple of pictures in the FAQ's of the fuse box and underdash wiring - take a look in there and see if you can find what you need. If not, just check back, and someone will get you straightened out. Good luck.

Re: Ignition switch wiring
Yeah, I have been searching the board for about 2 days, looking at the colored wiring diagrams, and searched the faq's at:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=262547 So far I haven’t found an answer yet. Maybe I'm just overlooking it. The wiring diagrams show the colors going to the switch, but not what they go to. Someone has spliced a new connector for the switch and didn't reconnect everything. Thanks

Re: Ignition switch wiring
Yes, that was the one I was missing. I think I have it figured out now.
Thanks!
