'02 3/4 ton
I am looking at buying an '02 3/4 ton. It has 129K miles. How do those transmissions hold up? I have had three 1/2 tons ('92, '94, '96) and had to replace trannys on everyone of them between 117k-and 130k miles. I know that he 3/4 ton has a different tranny, does it hold up any better?
Also, it is has bucket seats. Can i remove the center consol and put a seat there, what would that run? Anything else i should look at that may be problem matic with this/model? |

Re: '02 3/4 ton
Is it a Duramax, or gas motor? We have an 02 3/4ton Duramax and it has almost 200k on it, and we have had no problems out of the Allison tranny.
As far as the center console/seat swap I wouldn't think it would be a problem. I don't know what all is involved in each setup, but my 03 has the middle seat with the fold down back, and it appears that the other to parts seem to be just bucket seats. |

It is a gas, so it doesn't have the Allison.

Re: '02 3/4 ton
It's a 4L80E transmission which is basically a th400 with an overdrive added in. They are very durable and will run forever if taken care of. Like any transmission they have their share of failures but they usually last the life of the truck unless they are mistreated.
You'd have to swap a good bit of the dash plastic along with new carpet etc. Depending on which buckets the truck has you will probably have to replace them with a 40/20/40 seat also. Josh
