Body Mounts (how long) 1970 Blazer

How long should it take a auto shop to replace the body mounts on my blazer? I am friends with the owner, but he really can't guess on the amount of hours it will take to replace... Any ideas? Thanks in Advance!!

Re: Body Mounts (how long) 1970 Blazer

I just finnished that job on this Blazer. It kind of depends on weather or not you have carpet in the Blazer. The carpet needs to be rolled up to expose the heads of the bolts. 8 bolts are welded to the bed floor and 2 to the front floor. All of the welds need to be cut to replace the hardware, then the bolts have usualy rusted themselves to the tubes so the mounts don't come apart easely. Then lift the body about 3" above the chassis, clean everything and reinstall the mounts. While installing the mounts he may run into door allignment problems (I did) so he will have to shim the body mounts accordingly. All body bolts must be tightened before he will know the allignment, so there will be time in bolting and unbolting... Not an easy job.. I would figure 6 to 10 hours to be safe and if he gets it done in less time, you will be happy!! WES

So you are a professional mechanic and that is how long it took you? Yikes, I was hoping you were a knuckle buster like me and that was how long it took you... Man, I hope my guy knows what he is doing!

I did it myself and a friend and I did it on his blazer. With two people 4 - 6 hours is reasonable, but it took me a whole weekend on mine.
