Re: my 1952 rat rod progress pics
This was my first time to actually chop a top. I did it so quickly that my wife didnt have time to take pics lol..I started by building a cage to keep the cab from springing. After that I marked all door and window post 4" then cut threw the top with a ricipricating saw. After the top was removed from the posts, I built struts to hold the cab in place and when I dropped the cab top I filled in the gap in the roof. Next I cut the top of the doors to fit. I wish I could have had pictures of the process, I did it within a few days and didnt even think to have pics made. Its actually a easy project you just got to jump in and try it.

I just tried to send you a PM and it said you are not set up to receive PMs. Of course it didn't tell me that until I had typed a full paragraph!!! Check out your User CP settings.

Re: my 1952 rat rod progress pics
Sweet build, I just got a 5.3 for my truck and Im looking into getting 8.8 in the rear. Did you keep the ford bolt pattern? Is the rear out of a 96+ exploder.

I don't know what that means. I did the "add to friend list" thing and it still won't let me send you a PM.

Re: my 1952 rat rod progress pics
Today I just got the same rear end out of a 98 explorer at the wrecking yard, $150. Dont you mean 5 on 4 1/2? What 4 link setup did you use? I plan on making one and Im not sure which way to go. I was thinking about a triangulated one but Im not sure if Ill have enough room with 29" frame width.

Re: my 1952 rat rod progress pics
Do you have to account for the offset in the pinion when you line it up with the tailshaft of the transmission and the driveshaft?

Re: my 1952 rat rod progress pics
all i did was line the rearend up from side to side and the drive shaft is straight to the tranny out put .
The rearend just has one axle shorter than the other the pinion still in the middle. |
