69 c30 camper

a couple weeks ago i put up a post asking some questions of about a 69 camper truck, well today i went and bought it and drove it home, its a factory ac truck, the cab is nearly perfect, and the camper part is i pretty good shape still, the truck is powered by a 350, and i am guessing the tranny is a th400, the goofy thing is the tranny has no park its not even on the indicator on the collum
here are some picks

the no park feature is not too uncomon on heavy haulers. that way you dont get torque lock if you park on a hill.

thats kinda what i was thinking it was for, i was thinking the reason it didnt have park was so it would never have to rely solely on the park pin and the linkages to stay in place when on a slant of any type
does the tranny not have park at all? is the collum or linkages set not to let it go into park?
and am i guessing right that it is probly a th400

^ Me neither,I don`t think.

That`s a great truck.I`d like to find one like that.I like the size and the single wheel.

Re: 69 c30 camper

on the tranny question... I can't see them making a special "park delete" tranny, so i would guess it is in the column... but, i've been wrong, and we all know GM has made dumb desicions in the past. The option i still M49 as a 'normal' auto tranny.

The 157 inch with SRW did catch my eyes too... i can't say I've ever seen one either.

Re: 69 c30 camper

I've been hunting one, just missed a super sweet 67 in CO for $1500!! There is another in NM for $3000, but it is supposed to be spectacular, AC etc, etc. I need one cheap and in great shape, yeah good luck huh!? Anyways sweet one, mind letting us know how much?? We are headed to Yellowstone end of the month and would like to take one of these to save the hotel room fees, but may have to wait a while?

Re: 69 c30 camper

In these first 1 ton automatic trucks GM didn`t want owners to rely on the parking gear to hold a heavy truck. You`ll find once the GVW gets above 10,000# that the parking brake gets treated alot more seriously in most all trucks. That`s a good idea since it`s never a good idea to only rely on parking gear alone, yet most people do.What was done was the pawl was left out for park. It`s the same transmission, just minus the pawl. So,park can be made functional in those transmissions.
