Power antenna?

I have a 85 that was built without a radio. One has since been added. Has anyone installed a power mast antenna in the right front fender? Mine has a manual one in there now, that does not go down all the way into the fender. I'd like to change it out but I don't know if there is enough room to put one in the RF fender. From what I've read you need about 11 inches of room inside the fender to install it. I figured someone from must have tried this all ready.
Anyone? Also can the inner fender be removed without removing the outer fender?

Re: Power antenna?

I have never done a power antenna in a 73-87. I did a few years ago in various other cars. Unless you find a OEM unit for a donor I wouldn't bother. They may have improved over the years, but back then they were junk.

Re: Power antenna?

Mine was on the right front fender. Never could find a suitable power antenna to fit due to space limitations. Ended up using the windshield antenna.

Re: Power antenna?

Some crack head will just break it off so they can use the tube for a pipe.
