another z frame.....
well i bagged my 72 longbed, drove it low, man hole popped up, and bent the frame at the k member. well i have so much time in the rear suspension i am going to try to repair the front frame horns. when i do this i am thinking of z'ing the frame where i cut it. my question to all the z guys is where did you cut it and how much. don't tell me to try search, i did, i just want to gather all the information as possible before i ruin two frames instead of one. any help would be great and thanks all again.

Re: another z frame.....
I have a couple pics in my build thread. Most people do around a 3in Z. My Z is 2.5in and is more than enough. Maybe you can get some help, and not useless replies. I can't help a lot but atleast you can see what a 2.5 Z on a 27in tire does. Good luck and that sucks about the manhole cover. I ride 1in from the ground in my truck.

Re: another z frame.....
you cut after the shock mounts and before the where the firewall makes its last bend into the floor.
your front cut has to be precise and right up on the rad. and infront of the lower control arm bolts. are looking to just do a z and lay frame or do a crossmember drop as well? |

Re: another z frame.....
thanks guys, not looking to lay frame, just thought, hell if i got to cut it off anyway i might as well get some extra drop out of it, i have plenty more to go in the rear to level it out. my concern is really on the radiator side of things. i will study it some more before i start cutting, but all the pics i could get would really help, one again thanks for all the info.
