brake conversion
Hey I was wondering if the power disc brakes on a 1974 chevy c10 could be converted over to a 1969 chevy c10 that has drum brakes?

Re: brake conversion
It will work. The best way (and easiest way) to do it is remove the entire front crossmember from the donor truck. You will also need the master cylinder, power booster and proportioning valve.

Re: brake conversion
Welcome Rodney! You can search the FAQ's section for related stuff. There will be way more info than you need but you should find a write up on exactly this swap.

Re: brake conversion
Hey the 69 has only two brake lines coming off the valve proportioner one for the front and one for the back. And the 74 has four lines coming off the valve proportioner for each wheel. Can I use the valve that is on the 69 or do I have to use the one off the 74 and run four lines to each wheel?

Re: brake conversion
You should definitely not use the 69 valve. Not sure how to adapt the 74 to your application. You could use one from a 71-72 or an aftermarket disc/drum.

Re: brake conversion
Hey I just now noticed that my 69 has six lugs and the 74 has five. Is there a thread on that conversion process? The other 2 threads on the brake conversion has helped a lot thanks

Re: brake conversion
Specifically what conversion. Take the 74 disc and make them 6-lug or make the rear end 5-lug? LMC, CPP, and ECE all carry bolt on 6-lug front discs and any 71-72 truck rear end will swap into yours.

Re: brake conversion
I don't know of any parts stores that carry them. Strictly specialty aftermarket:
