stock valve covers 1967 327
I have been trying to figure out what the orginial valve covers for a 67 327cu.in. engine looked like. I have chrome valve covers on my truck with pvc and oil filler plug. I am going back with the orginial intake with the oil tube in front, so I won't need the filler hole in valve cover, but I can't find a photo of the orginial ones. I've been told that it had the Chevrolet script on it and then others tell me that it was the plain valve cover with the sticker in the center saying 327 cu in. .So, can anyone set me straight once and for all??? I am needing a 4 bbl breather assy and these valve covers to bring my engine back to the orginial look. Any help will be greatly appreciated. That is the great thing about this forum... I get to pick your brains and not rely on my limited knowledge of what's what! Thanks in advance!!

I believe that the truck motors received the "plain valve cover". It would look cool with the scripted covers though.

Here is a pic of my 68 327 valve cover on the passenger side, and the driver side just has a PCV towards the front.

Here is my stock engine before I did a cam, carb, and manifold swap. It is a 1967 327ci. As you can see, the valve covers are plain. The breather connects from a fitting on the back of the block to the base of the stock carb. The breather filter is in the cap of the oil filler tube. There is also a canister in the lifter valley under the intake that connects to the fitting on the back of the block. I assume the canister is a baffle of some kind so that liquid oil does not get sucked into the breather. I have photos of the whole setup if anyone is interested.

"1967C20" has a small journal 327.
Where as mine is a large journal 327.

Here is the factory breather setup for '67. It is an open breather system (vents to the atmosphere instead of the air cleaner). I'm not sure what year they went to the closed system:
Here is where the PCV (yellow arrow) valve attaches to the carb base plate. The original valve screwed in the carb base plate and had a right angle fitting on it. I could not locate an original type valve so I adapted an inline valve using some brass fittings. The hose runs to a fitting on the block behind the distributor. This is the location of the fitting: Here is the canister inside the lifter valley. I believe it acts as a baffle: The oil filler cap acts as a filter. Inside the cap is a material the looks like very coarse steel wool (the kind that comes in thin strips): I hope that helps you guys out.

the 327 in my 67 camaro is all original right down to the factory dated coil if it would be the same and if it would help you I could go out and take some pic's of the alt mounting and manifolds for you ?? sometimes they change stuff for car's different than truck's ,
I know that they changed to the venting in the air cleaner and went from valve pans with no holes to pans with holes in 68 (FOR CAR'S ) I'M NOT SURE WHAT YEAR THEY CHANGED THE TRUCKS ? here is a pic I found (NOT MINE) shows the alt mounting

i think i might throw my rams horn exhaust manifolds back on and ditch the headers. there crusty anyways. do i need to run a heat riser of the bottom of the drivers side manifold? or can i just leave it off.

i think my problem is that my headers force me to use an aftermarket mount. anybody else running headers run into this problem? and yea if you could take a couple pics of the upper and lower bracket mounts that would greatly help. i didnt get to take pics of it today but maybe tomorrow il take some in the day light.
