Nice Truck!! I wonder why they keep trying to sell it.
I like how the original glove box lid is incorporated into the "New Dash"

Something tells me the guy or girl that buys it is not going to be wheeling in it much, for On-Road the IFS is a pretty nice setup.

That newer style dash in there is awesome! I agree I do like how he incorporated the original glove box in it.

i beg to differ, we replace ball joints, bearings, idler/pitman arms etc. on late model trucks with IFS all the time even more when they are lifted and running big tires. i agree they do ride nice but are really weak when modified above stock. i recently had a 2000 model 1/2 ton with a 4" lift running 33s and when i lifted it to check front end wear the lower ball joint on the driver side popped out. i showed it to the customer and explained what could have happened had it popped out while driving.

What you describe replacing are normal wear items, as far as a ball joint going bad, every vehicle will have that problem. The fact that you work on more IFS might have to do with the fact that IFS frontends outnumber Straight axle probably 20:1 now, remember they have not put them under Chevy's or light Fords in (Ford)31 or (Chevy/gmc) 23 years. That is three lifetimes in car years. I have ALOT of experience with both and would respectfully disagree with what you said for "onroad" capability, Are they weaker, yes are they good enough for 99.9% of all uses, yes.

Re: 1972 4x4 crewcab on ebay

very cool rig....
and on the ball joint deal....I have replaced as many if not more solid axle ball-joints as IFS.....not to mention the axle u-joints and axle seals....although I have snapped a few CV shafts, mostly due to a heavy accelerator foot....4x4's are hard on front end parts, especially when modified from stock.....lifts and bigger wheels and tires add extra stress on either type of front end...my $.02

Re: 1972 4x4 crewcab on ebay

The have some other interesting rigs on their lot. http://www.desertautoplex.com/cgi-bi...8549&d_id=1080

Arad68, I'd say that they keep trying to sell it because they are a dealership that sells trucks and cars. It looks like they sell or at least advertise quite a number of rigs on Ebay.

I think I just might have to go see if I can beat a local guy out of his spare Burb that he is pulling parts off. the parts he is pulling, I don't need.

I'll say this, that is one of the best looking conversions I have seen. If I had a sack full of cash it would be on it's way to Washington in a heartbeat.

Yeah, if you look at the drivers side, there's no rear door.

Man, I like it! I really like the integration of the 98 engine/tranny with all the modern convenience inside our classic body style. May have to attempt that in my next project if I ever finish the current one.
