I got a surprising award at Goodguys this weekend
I drove my blazer down to the Nashville Goodguys show this weekend, which was a goal of mine about 8 weeks ago when my other motor started knocking. I bought a ZZ4 from a guy here locally and with the help of several board members got it in last week. I also had some steering issues that had to be worked out and actually got done about 2 hours before I left to go down to the show.
On Saturday my wife Mandi, daughter Halen, Gman69(George), and Luv(Craig) were hanging out under my tent trying to beat the heat when this guy walks up and asked if he could take some pictures of my blazer. Several people had taken pics but didn't ask so I didn't care at all. He continued on and told me that he shot for Classic Trucks and that my blazer had been picked by Classic Trucks as the Finest 5 of the show. I was floored because there were ALOT better looking trucks then mine there, but am proud that I got picked. He told me I had to come down and park in the winner's circle on Sunday. I actually hadn't planned on coming back down on Sunday but decided it was probably worth it. I got down there today and they put me in next to these 4 other gorgeous trucks that I really had no business being beside. I try to be modest and probably am too much but don't want to be a cocky ___. I just wanted to share that with some of you guys because alot of you have answered my questions and given opinions that have helped me build this thing. I've been on this board for 6 years and you couldn't ask for a better group of people.

It's the Hot Rod Flatz Hot Rod Red. I was just going to go with black, but my painter Jason Bullock of Bullock's Body Werks(have to give him a plug) recommended a red and I think he was right.

Re: I got a surprising award at Goodguys this weekend
I hate to break it to ya, but your blazer deserved an award.
You put a heck of a lot of time and money into it, on top of that it is one cool blazer. You've done what all of us would love to do---finish a truck! I hope you make it into the magazine too. Excellent job. john

I love your blazer, and if you know my tastes in rides you would never guess in a million years Id give your truck a second look.
There is something about it that just works. Its understated, but still bowls you over. Nice job and well deserved award. |

Re: I got a surprising award at Goodguys this weekend
Your truck very much deserves a trophy. From seeing it come together on your build thread, it is one of best looking blazers. I even like the flat red and i'm not that fond of red.
