Mounting location of factory hood ornament

I found one other thread related to this, but the question was never answered. I have a 87' V10 and found a NOS Chevy hood ornament that I want to mount to my hood, that never had one. Since I would like to drill the holes right the first time obviously, do any of you have the measurements of the holes in relation to each other, and to the relation to the front of the hood? I know this is asking alot, but ideally if someone has a hood that came with one from the factory could take it off and let me know the diameter of the holes and with a tape, measure from the lip of the hood back to the middle of first hole, I could figure out the rest. I just want to make darn sure I am mouting it in the correct location on the hood when I drill my first hole, because if not, I'm kind of screwed! As you can probably tell, I'm pretty detail oriented and want it to be perfect. Thanks for any help!

I can check on mine tonight. You may also want to see if anyone in your area has a hood with an ornament on it that would trade you for one without. I would if you were closer. I don't want the ornament on mine.

Re: Mounting location of factory hood ornament

You mean like this one?

This is the measurement from the edge of the hood/cowl joint to the back of the ornament:

This is the measurement from the left side (facing the grill) to the ornament (Although, this dimension should be pretty self explanatory):

You know...when I first got this truck, I didn't care for the hood ornament, but I rather like it now.

Hope it helps.

Re: Mounting location of factory hood ornament

Thank you so much. That is exactly what I needed to know to drill my holes. Now I have another project for this weekend!

Now if I could only get the exact measurements for the cut outs in my lower valance so I could mount my tow hooks, I would be set!! Oh, and also find out where in the heck my MAP sensor is supposed to mount to!! I swear it's gotta be on the side of the air cleaner.
