Hey,

How'd you install your carpet in your 67-72's? Any tips? Pictures?

Basically what do you wanna know? Are you using a preformed carpet kit? I've been doing uhpolstery for some time now. One trick I use is to let it lay out in the sun for awhile, warm it up. This makes everything more pliable. For the those spots that need some holding by an adhesive. I use a good carpet and trim adhesive, most found at your local parts store.
As for finding the holes where the seatbelt bolts, and etc go. Leave the bolts in the holes and then take a razor cut around them.

I just finished....

Take your time.
Clean out all the mounting holes with a tap.
I took my tank out and my carpet goes under the tank.
Use an awl up from the underside to mark hole locations for seat mounting bolts, seat belts, fuel line, etc.
I made a punch from 1/2 inch conduit to punch nice clean holes in the carpet to match seat bracket and other mounting holes.
Clean up and paint anything messay on the floor. I painted my tank since it was out.
Having the seat out led me to do a lot of work on and in the dash to fix, paint, and repair.
Paint your seat brackets while the seat is out.
Oh, and good time to fix you fuel guage if it doesn't work!
I replaced my rusting seat bracket bolts with new ones.

One thing can sure lead to another on a capret change!

The carpet im using is a preformed, im. All you did was adhesive?

If you do your able to lay it in there where it fits rather good, you shouldn't need any adhesive. once its in the the seats and sill plates and such hold it in place.
The real trick to doing carpet is " patience "

We use a pencil tip soldering iron to melt the carpet for the bolt holes, works pretty slick, but stinks.

If you dont have sill panels, you'd have to use an adhesive right?

I would see about getting some, if not adhesive is nessasary. I would also once you get the carpet cut, and fit properly. Take it back out and take to a carpet store and have the edges of the carpet bound , that way it won't unravel.
