Original Tire Size
I've been digging through my manuals, and haven't had success with this. Can anyone share what the standard tire size is in today's numbers to replace the old 6-ply tires for a 1953 (and I'd assume it'd be the same from at least 47-53) Chevy 3100 1/2 ton?
Thanks! |

Re: Original Tire Size
No info on this floating around? I seem to recall that what's on it now are 205/70 R15s, I just don't want to buy those again if it's just a case of that's what someone decided to put on it before because they had some 15" tires running around.

Re: Original Tire Size
Thanks BigBlue. For the record, I am jealous of the five-window.
I'm seeing Coker Tires recommends a P205/75R15 as a radial replacement, or a 670-15 for the bias. I think I'm going radial, and I think that I have to go with the whitewalls, or I'll hate myself later for it. |

Re: Original Tire Size
Thanks. I found this conversion chart helpful to determine wheel diameter:
http://www.1010tires.com/tiresizecalculator.asp and then picked a size close in diameter. Some guys have used LT215/85R16. I Ended up buying LT225/75R-16's. You can buy a replica radial of the Bias ply tires with a white wall from Coker, but be ready to bend over for them cause they are pricey. Thats the reason I went with a standard BW truck radial. Good luck. And post up some pics when you get something!
