'67 Frame Rust

I am in the process of resurrecting my old high school ride, a '67 C-10. After climbing under it I noticed there is some pretty bad rust in the frame right at the bend just forward of the coil springs on both sides. Is this common? Does anyone make pre-fab plates to do a cut/reweld job? The top half of the frame looks solid but it is pretty flaky on the bottom half. Frame is solid everywhere else but this area. Any advice/encouragement would be helpful.

Re: '67 Frame Rust

WELCOME!!! to the best BB on the web.

I don't know of any precut plates for frame repair. If it's a longbed and staying that way frames should be easy to find if you decide to replace. It might even be a better deal to rebuild a donor frame then swap the body over. You will need to check DMV rules on that.

Re: '67 Frame Rust

I'm dealing with the same issue right now. I've about decided to use a donor frame. Rust sucks.

I'm cutting up a longbed frame for scrap this weekend...
I'd send you whatever you wanted, but shipping would be a killer

Re: '67 Frame Rust

I already have a frame that I cut up sitting in the yard that needs to go to scrap - you want parts of it to get your truck back up and going - come get it (in Toledo).

Let me know.

Re: '67 Frame Rust

Welcome to the board from Kent, WA. Wish I could help...have a very nice frame from a '68 (dimples for power steering) sitting here ready to go to the recyclers. It sounds like you have some close to you (Toledo) that will work just fine. Good luck and post more pics.

Re: '67 Frame Rust

Thanks for the outpouring of support guys. I may have a donor truck lined up locally. I will let you know If I need anything, but in the meantime don't change any of your plans for me. If you get the notion to head for the scrap yard, go ahead and go. Thanks again.
