New 2 the v6 game. Need opinions.
Okay, so I have a 4.3 litter (doing another frame swap to a 1950 gmc) I have always had 350's carburated. If you were going to go through a 4.3 and make it have over 200 or so horse power what would you do? Its a 1991. I really don't want to put the money into supercharging it. Just want a nice reliable driver.

I would like to keep it injected. But not 100% a must.

Welcome ozzie!
Do a google search, there's lots of info on the web. 200 HP's not a problem. Just consider it a SBC with 2 less cylinders. Check out "Doug Anderson's- Rebuilding the 262" for history and info on the engine.

personally i would go for a first generation Vortec (92-95). the one with an aluminum upper intake and one injector. they seem to make good power in stock form and are more reliable than the CSFI (96-04 ?) models.

Re: New 2 the v6 game. Need opinions.
200 horse is easy, the factory ones are rated at near that in the later models. (My '03 is 195 horse stock).
Here's a few helpful sites: S10 4.3L Forum 4.3 Performance Sticky Getting up to 200hp should only involve a better exhaust, my 5 speed S10s is super restrictive in the y-pipe (down to ~1.5" OD). A cam swap will also put more power in the motor, but that can get pricey for a v6 as it's not as popular as a small block cam.

The '91 block is most likely a roller cam. The flat tappet I put in my 4.3 was about $140.
