what did you get done 7/19/09
this week my truck started running like junk again and alot of pinging so we broke down and did a timing chain on it so it runs better, bille then squared away the last fuel tank issues and lastly we put in the black seatbelts, steering wheel and the visor clips all from board members... you???

Re: what did you get done 7/19/09
Last week I got my 77 running again. This week it was time to double check things, work on small projects, and clean, clean, clean.
Through the week I crawled under, over, and around my truck checking things out. I found my Flowmaster has two pin holes of rust from the inside out. Friday evening I started on a project I have been putting off for a long time. I have parts and pieces from several intermittent wiper systems. I pieced them together and got really close to having a fully functional system. Saturday I got up early and started pulling wheels to polish them. I got the back two done fairly quick. The front two were etched on the inside from anti-freeze when my water pump blew. I chewed up a good Powerball, but finally got them like new again. Between each wheel, I applied hand glazed a panel at a time and let it dry. When I got finished with the wheels, I was almost done with the paint too. He was shined up like a new penny. My plan was to go to the local cruise spot and show off my detail work. Unfortunately the rain came, so I called it a night. Sunday morning I spent more time on my intermittent wiper project. I installed a new relay and got really close to everything working correctly. Still have to figure out whats wrong with the potentiometer that controls the intermittent speed. This evening it was time for a test run. I took a nice cruise, and stopped at a nearby restaurant for some photo op's. On my way home I noticed my alternator wasn't charging. I popped the hood to discover a blown belt. Hmm, wonder what caused that... More pics here- LINK

Played in a ASA Softball tournament double elimination. Saturday we went 3-0 then this morning went 2-0 we took 5th out of 30+ teams. Worked on the Riviera again still trying to finish it so I can refocus energy on the trucks.

Re: what did you get done 7/19/09
Did some more bracket work on my project frame. Also made some rear c-notches to 'mimic' the Porterbuilt front R&P c-notches. Got the PB notches tacked in place.

Re: what did you get done 7/19/09
Went to a car show in Raytown Missouri.Met a couple of board members and saw some nice iron. Then let the oldest buy me lunch LOL.
Then sat. night took wifey to dinner for our anniversary. Sunday afternoon I went to help the 20 something that lives with us put a muffler on his car.Cranked the compressor on and the lights went out, smoke came out of the breaker box.Seems a rodent liked the insulation of the main power leads. What a stinkin mess.Got that repaired.4 and 1/2 hrs later I started on his muffler. |

Re: what did you get done 7/19/09
Began rust repairs on the K5, once the body is repaired I am going to begin swapping everything from my old 80 over including the 3/4 ton diffs, turbo 6.2L diesel, NV4500, NP241 and the front clip.
Unfortunately, spells the death of my 80, but it had to be done as the truck still needs a good $8 000 - $10 000 worth of parts and labour to get it where I want it to be. The K5 is a little less than $1000 to finish up, and is a truck that I can actually use offroad without cringing at every pinstripe!

Re: what did you get done 7/19/09
Upgraded my alternator from a stock 64 amp unit to a 120 amp.
I took advantage of the split manifold on my 250 six and ran true dual exhaust. A good friend of mine has an exhaust pipe bender in his shop along with lots of 10 foot pipe sections. I'll be going back in a couple weeks to remove the Thrush glass packs, my truck sounds like a Honda Civic, not cool. LOL. Drove 80 miles round trip to meet a CL seller that never showed up. The clown calls me 4 hours later and wants me to make the trip again, I'll pass.

Re: what did you get done 7/19/09
Got the floor done in the parts shed, started making shelves.
Swapped feul rail in the 99, found #8 injector full of rust, probably my problem with the miss on #8. Cleaned and traded it with #2 so we'll see (battery is flat, we'll try again tonight).. Replaced the corroded fuel pipe too. Oh, and mowed the lawn and a bunch of honey do-s...

Re: what did you get done 7/19/09
Not much. Saturday I swapped out the drivers door wing window and window channel seal with parts from the burb. MUCH quiter!
Yesterday took the family to Denver to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. The kids love that place, and the last time we went there they had the Titanic exhibit so we only got to see a very small portion of the museum. So this time we got to see everything. Then we stopped by Famous Dave's on the way home for some slamming BBQ!

Re: what did you get done 7/19/09
I've ahd a pretty depressing week, but yesterday things started to look up.
My dad, girlfriend, and I all went down to Frazier Park, which is right at the top of the grapevine, the famous section of freeway just north of LA. In Frazier Park, there's a lady who rescues small dogs of all kinds, and I took one off of her hands. Her name is Shelby Ray and she is a Lhasa Apso and every bit as adorable as she look in the picture. She is also the perfect travel dog. She got right in the truck, lays down, and sleeps until its time to get out. A total sweet heart who loves to play. My other two dogs aren't too keen on her, but they'll get used to her.

Re: what did you get done 7/19/09
Friday the kids and I drove over to Dallas to pick up my wife who had been at a conference for work since Wednesday night.
Saturday spent most of the day over at the youth field at the Rangers Ballpark. My son took part in a mini baseball camp and got to meet Derick Holland of the Rangers, finished off the night by going with a group of 56 people (all the kids and parents from Springhill from the camp) to the Rangers game. Sunday took the family to the Ft. Worth Zoo then headed home. I was worn out by the time we go home, luckly I did not have to be at work until 2 pm today.
