Okay, what did I do wrong?
Tried to install new sunvsors on the old support arms. Either the rod is to big(dia) or the inside tube(?) for the rod is to small. After installing them, I tried to adjust the visors, and something inside the visor broke, and they just hang there as if you'd flipped them down in front to block the sun. Cardboard or plastic inside the visor let go? New visors aren't stiff like the old ones were. Is there a trick to this? Should I also have ordered new brackets? (rod dia. smaller on the new ones?)

Ah come on, someone has had to have had this problem in the past? What is the way to correct it?

I remember a couple years ago, when I still had the 69, I was doing a backyard resto and I purchased a set of black ones from LMC. They were tight going on, but they functioned just fine, they sure werent going to flop down while I was driving though. So, I guess that is not of any help, maybe it depends on where you got them.

Sounds as though you may have trashed the visor. When installing the rod you need to grasp the visor on top side where rod slides across and hold it firmly when inserting the rod, there is a metal insert with a hole for rod to slide through that is clamped onto the fiberboard portion inside visor. If this is not held firmly to prevent the metal inside from rotating or twisting free of the fiberboard it is possibly to tear the metal insert free from inner fiberboard that the vinyl is wrapped over.

Try to wrap a layer of tape on the rod to shim it a little, just don't go back to where it can be seen.
