Based on what I've read it sounds like dying your original door panels is a better option than new, based on fit? The panels on my 77 are in good shape except on the top where the texture is worn smooth (arm resting on the edge) over the years.

Does anybody know how to replicate the texture to match the rest of the door before painting?

I've tried to search with no luck...I"m a rookie so I may have been doing something wrong.

I have no idea if this would work but here's something I did with a fiberglass interior piece. I built an extension for a center console in my S-10 out of fiberglass and needed some "texture" before I sprayed it with SEM coat. I grabbed a spray can of bedliner material and layed down a couple coats. Once it was good and dry I hit it with SEM coat and now the piece has a grain look like vinyl. People have asked me how i wrapped the vinyl and kept it smooth.

Thanks Bryan, didn't even think of applying texture, I was going a different direction. I'll pick up an old door panel and do a little experimenting.

I used the spray called COLORBOND on my door panels and arm rests. I figured the arm rest being vinyl would feel rough instead of normal and they turned out great. and then I tried the door panels and they still feel the same as before.

I've heard of using a donor piece of vinyl and laying that on the dye when it was tacky then pulling it off.
I've never tried it myself though.

I used rocker chip guard before the spray bedliner was available in cans.
