Free truck

I am really not joking. I am leaving for a one year deployment and have no place for my truck. A guy was supposed to buy it for $300 and never showed up and keeps jerking me around.

It currently has no motor or tranny but I have the original 307 in the bed. All the parts are there and glass is good. Typical rust. I have a clean title and I will sign it over to any board member who can come get it.

Please give me a call at 407-716-8725. You are really helping me out b/c I have to check out of Army housing and they won't let me until the truck is gone.

Please bring your trailer and take this off my hands!! There are pics in my signature line.

I really appreciate anyone who can help me out!!

-Drew

Re: Free truck

MIGHT be able to get it but I need to know how much timeframe we have to work with.

Make sure you ride the GoKarts while you're in Bahrain. Definitely a good time!

Re: Free truck

The guy that was "for sure" coming to get it was supposed to be here yesterday. I am checking out of housing tomorrow. I could leave the title with my buddy if I need to. How much time do you need?

Re: Free truck

What about towing it to a storage unit and sticking the the title under the seat and giving the location the the one that come get it.
As far as trailers Uhaul rents them pretty cheap by the day.

That would be cool but don't tell anyone where you put it then do it like a big Easter egg hunt. Whoever finds it gets it.

Post it on freecycle. The scavangers there will be fighting over it.

bump.
Someone needs to help this service member out. I don't care if you grab it and store it, fix it up, or crush it. There has to be someone local to the man with a trailer.

Re: Free truck

I've called and left Drew a message. It's only about 30 miles from my Cousins house and he has a place to store it for me until I could get up there to tow it home.

Re: Free truck

It would be really nice if someone considered storing it for the guy until he could get back. He is an esteemed member of our military and he'll only be gone for a year. Look at the thread in his signature guys, this pickup really means something to him.

Is anyone in the area? Maybe we can pitch in and get him a storage space for a year?

We should try to take care of our boys.

my wife wouldn't go for that..I have a few options for him if he still has it tomorrow...

1. Carlisle truck show this weekend and split the profits
2. Get it running and settle up when he gets back next year (im easy)
3. help find a place to store it...

If you go for 2 or 3 I'd be glad to donate some thing for gas or getting it running. I don't have much but it would be a start and I bet we can get some people on this forum to help, maybe this could turn into something big.

Re: Free truck

Not sure how much it would cost to store a truck these days in the MD/DC/NoVa area anymore but as a fellow board member, a fellow military member and formerly working just miles from him @ Andrews AFB (see Air Force One) I'd like to think that I could help him out by pitching a few dollars in his honor so that when he returned from Duty in the Desert he'd have a ride. Either that or I'll pitch in for gas to anyone who might come get it and store it for him.

BTW...not claiming that I actually worked on AF1 just stating fact that AAFB is it's home.

I'm in too. This guy clearly loves this truck, it's been in his family and it was his dad's for some time. I can ship over some parts, if I have anything you guys need. Or, if you go with option 3, I can donate $100 to help pay for storage. We need to take care of our service members. If it were not for them, I would have nothing. My grand-dad flew in bombers as a side gunner over Europe in WWII (was shot down and was a P.O.W.) and my dad was a Navy medic during the Vietnam war. These guys and gals give their lives so we can BS on this forum without fear of being being attacked.

Re: Free truck

Unfortunately, someone here (close to his location) is going to have to head this up and go get it (along with the title docs) and either store it for him as is or store it and get it driveable. If he never claims the truck after a year, then you got yourself a truck. If he wants it back after a year, you just helped out a true American hero, not that bad a deal either way. I wish I had room to store it and was close enough to get it and had a trailer. It's going to take just the right person to get this thing and make it work. It would be kinda cool to store it for him and get it running, while posting progress on this forum so he and all of us can follow along.

Well Mike said he would pick it up, there's already some willing to donate, so hopefully this thing will keep growing. Let's just keep it up top and see if Mike has been able to contact him. Nice job so far guys.
