zed frame

I was looking here but dont see any info about how you mount the radiator after you z a frame on a 60-66. any pics? thanks

From what I've seen you step the frame horns back down a few inches behind the core support so the radiator and core support sit exactly where they did before.

Exactly Just step the horns down as much as you raise the Z. Remember to make sure there's room for the fan shroud and lower hose before you weld it all up.

The difference is the radiator mouns is farther back (closer to the engine) on 6x-66's vs. post-67's.

I'm curious about this one as well. How about notching & boxing the frame to allow for dropping the radiator down the necessary amount? Or a shorter in height but longer in length custom radiator??

YA. the radiator mount is just behind the coresupport mount so if you lower the coresupport/bumper mount the radiator mount will stay the same.I was also wondering if you install a 73-87 crossmember will the front wheels stay centered ?

The front wheel sstay in the same location. The geometry was all the same on '60-87 front ends. As for the radiator, I usually modify the stock or make a new bracket for the radiator. But, if you use an aftermarket aluminum rad (I use the inexpensive Northerns), the stock bracket will work on the '63 and up trucks if you're going for a 3" Z!

I was unaware of this difference, but it seems this would be the best plan of attack.
