gas tank neck grommet?
Can you change it without pulling the tank?
Also is there a difference in the grommet from 67-68 and 69-72? |

Re: gas tank neck grommet?
I've done it a couple of times. The first time I did from the outside in with a wooden dowl slightly chisel shaped and smoothed. As mentioned by big-al, use lots of silicone lubricant or other lubricant that won't damage your paint.
Last year I replace the one on my 68 GMC and I did it a different way. I pushed it all the way through first and then installed it outwards from the inside. I used Armorall spray as a lubricant cause that's all I had at the time. Seem to work pretty good. |
