Re: should i get another project?

That's a lot of project. I think I would pass unless the body was rock solid... after all that all you are buying.

Don't forget.... when there is NO engine and NO trans, that means there is no drive shaft, no carb, no distributor, no exhaust system, no battery, no motor accessories and pulleys, no plug wires, no radiator, I think you get the point. Usually on these types of trucks the interior is incomplete or trashed, no telling what condition the braking system is in, plus it needs a new axle.

So.....

Ask yourself, is this the truck I have the time and money to build from the ground up, having to acquire all the missing pieces?

gotcha! i was thinking this too, i kind of want to do a frame off build, which, this would be a good candidate for, BUT, after i get out of school, there was a guy selling one, in way better cond for 750, and 250 for a running 454 and 400, should have jumped on that! but hadnt sold the 81 yet

Re: should i get another project?

Didn't you just sell a truck because you had too many things going on? I would pass, and focus on your swb. Imagine what you could do to it with the same amount of money.

John, you make a great point here. I was thinking this same thing. Spend the money on the one that you have now. $500 will buy alot torward getting some parts that are needed to get closer to completed. I say pass on this one too.

Re: should i get another project?

What's funny is I bought my '87 for $500, with no motor and a blown up trans in it. I've been driving it quite a bit lately.

Re: should i get another project?

I don't know about your area, but here in New Mexico where I live that would be a $250.00 truck with no motor ir trans. Just got lucky yesterday, traded a old yamaha Enduro motorcycle for a running 1974 3/4 ton (C20) with a rebuilt 350 4 bolt main, and a 4 speed and everything works great but it needs a throw out bearing....he was only asking 500 for it in the first place.

Re: should i get another project?

I say pass on that truck too. There alot of them in better shape than that one. Spend the money on your swb truck.

Re: should i get another project?

yea, made the smart decision! just fell in love with a round headlight one i found on here! but mine needs the attention! sent the money on a good subwoofer/amp/radio combo, finally stoped using cheap subs and amps, got a great deal on some audio stuff! update in my build soon!
