More crew cab progress, opinions needed, and a new chevy fan
I've made a little progress on the crew cab, got the new tires mounted up, front springs installed, rear bumper on and wheel well trim installed too. I'm thinking the front is about one inch too low and the rear is one inch too high. Any opinions?
Spent all weekend working on getting the motor running right, turns out I had a bad lifter and a burnt plug wire. The mechanic used the stock style rockers on the vortec heads which was causing more problems but we got it all fixed up and it runs GREAT now, that comp xe-268 really comes alive above 2500 rpm. I still need to get the pw/pl setup finished, fix the crooked trim on the cab, and just a couple odds and ends before I list this truck on ebay, I kind of hope it doesnt sell though ha ha. I think I might have found a way to get the equipment I need for work without having to sell this truck AND my Blazer. I'll know in another week or so. I also thought I would take a picture of my little guy having fun in the truck, even if the picture makes him look a little cross eyed haha

that truck is turning out amazing! imo just bring the rear down a couple inches. the front looks perfect and i think if you level the rear she will sit perfect! i sure hope you dont sell it. its one of those trucks that you could sit and stare at all day!
cute pic of your baby too!! happy as can be. my dads got a few of those pics with me in my truck! memories that will last forever!

I'm torn on whether to drop the rear a couple of inches and make it more level, or leave it the way it is. I like the rake look, but for some reason I think your truck will look good level too.
Hope it all works out where you can keep the truck and blazer. I love it when you get to have your cake and eat it too. Keep us updated man. It looks amazing. |

I'm going to go with the consensus, and say lower the rear. This crew has turned out amazing!

Truck look great minus the crooked trim.
I would drop the rear as well. Just remove a couple leafs, or even the overload...should do the trick. Your son is very handsome by the way!

I hear ya on the trim, it kills me everytime I look at it. How easy is it to remove a leaf? I still have one notch on the shackle but I'm not looking forward to removing the bed to notch the crossmember.

To remove leafs, you will likely have to remove the spring pack from the truck. Then it is just a matter of grinding the rivets off, taking out what you don't need, and bolting back together. It would be a good time to clean and paint them too.
You can notch the cross sill with the bed on, but you might have to unbolt it and wiggle it around a little to get good access. That is what I did on my 73 years ago when I had a shackle hanger kit..

I need to buy another plow truck or two and a quad w/plow. Normally I would never sell my trucks to buy snow removal stuff on the chance it snows but I have several contracts with some big retail stores that pay monthly if it snows or not, so it's really hard to pass on these contracts.
