removing wax that is too dry?
I waxed my truck and left the wax to dry too long. I am having a hard time removing the wax.
Any tips. Thanks. |

Re: removing wax that is too dry?
Purchase a quality detail spray and use it to wet the wax and then wipe it off. If you are not in the same proximity of a parts store, get a spray bottle and fill it wilth water and use it. Kind of like spit-shining a pair of shoes. The detail spray has some oils mixed in the fluid to help with lubricating the paint as you wipe it off.

Re: removing wax that is too dry?
lightly moist microfiber spongy...
or a microfiber towel and spray detailer.. spray small sections of wax with the detailer.. and "wax off" that crap.... good luck

Re: removing wax that is too dry?
The wax should eventually begin to lift off if you use any of the ideas presented above. I'm still removing wax I've found from my PO of my truck. No telling how long that's been there.

Re: removing wax that is too dry?
I used pledge and it seemed to work very well. I haven't taken the truck out in the daylight yet but I will keep you posted.

Re: removing wax that is too dry?
Eagle one spray mist and a good microfiber will take it right off...

Re: removing wax that is too dry?
another way is to just put a new coat of wax on/ it will loosen and remove the old as long as you buff it out properly this time

Re: removing wax that is too dry?
How long is too long. I used to wax my entire truck then go back to wipe it off, and it wasnt hard to get off. The only problem I had was getting wax off of the window rubber that I accidently went over.

Re: removing wax that is too dry?
FWIW, if you want to remove wax, use some simple green or dawn dish soap in your bucket along with your car shampoo. But, this leaves the paint bare, so you need to apply a fresh coat to protect the paint. But, if you want to get down to clean paint and work from there, that's the best solution.
