Core Supports
Are the core supports the same from 67 to 72? I am going to make my 69 short step into a 67 short wide. I was wondering if I need to use the core support from my 67 or can I unbolt the sheet metal from the front end and use the core suport from the 69? I have been spending so much time on my 64 that I have forgotten everything I knew about the 67-72.
Thanks for any help with this, JRBECK64 |

Re: Core Supports
The 67 support is different from the 69.

Re: Core Supports
67-68 are same. 69-72 are same. Why would you want to convert a short step to a short fleet? Oh well, it's your truck.

Its all about preference. My 56 Chevy BBW is going to be a Short Step because they look great as a Short Step. Currently I have a 63 shortwide, 64 Shortwide, 69 Long Fleet, 67 Short Step, 1950 Willeys PU so you could say I like both but the 67 is going to be a shortwide. My 63 shortwide was a shortstep but my son decided he likes the shortwide better so we made it a short wide. Do you know if Chevrolet made a short fleet bed in 67 or 68 that had the metal bottom in it rather than the wood? Thanks for any help you can give, and thanks for the info on the core support. Re: Core Supports
You're right JRBECK64. If everybody had the same tastes, we'd all be driving the same truck. To answer your question I'm sure they did but I don't know how many. Wood beds were an option on fleet beds in those years. I would think that a short fleet bed from any 67-72 truck would fit your 67 frame. Maybe some other members out there would like to comment on this. Good luck with your truck!
