new wheel tire choice?
hey all, wow it's been a long time since i've been on here! i miss you guys! i see ALOT of awesome new rides/projects since i've last been on here, good job guys!
anyways, i just finished graduating out of my mechanical engineering tech course, got a job working for Schlumberger, therefore, i finally have some money to put towards my ride again!! ...unfortunately, to make ends meet during school, i had to sell some things... THANKFULLY i got to keep my truck!, but i had to sell the rims/tires off it. Now, im looking for a new set, but cant decide on the styling!? throughout school, i've become friends in different places, opening my options. (such as machining my own wheels...) also, plans for the short future include air-ride, with the available "drop-member" here are some of my current ideas: The first picture is my truck with the old wheel/tire combo... these wheels i found were too common, and not wide enough in the back. they are sold and gone! the second pic is of N2TRUX's sweet ass swb c10. i love his wheel/tire combo, but am not sure how it'd look on a stepper the third pic is of the same truck, but with some photochopped custom "one-off" machined chevy ralleys... i see some potential... the last pic is of Todd Emmons c10, again, i really like the tire/wheel combo. other options include coys, tt2's, etc... if i go mag's, im thinkin 5-spoke. ...but i stilll cant decide!! Any thoughts??

Re: new wheel tire choice?
You got one vote to make your own big rallies, here. I have done a bit of research myself.
Here is a couple of photoshops I did awhile back. These were the actually rallies enlarged. This is the best, most cost effective way that I found to do this. This is the centeline wheel that I would use. Minus the rivots of course(which they will do). It has that step notch/line in the middle of the wheel-kinda like the originals. And I think the center cap will fit in the recess(couldn't confirm for sure). Plus this one comes in customizable offsets because it is a two piece wheel. Which will allow you to achieve that real staggered look, unlike their one piece smoothies. If it's a more modern five spoke you decide to go with. I posted a picture of this wheel in another thread, and alot of people like it. I think it would look good on your ride. It's made by rushforth and pretty reasonably priced.

Re: new wheel tire choice?
thanx for the info jdurant..i really like the rushforth, and the centerlines would definately be a good start for some custom wheels!

Re: new wheel tire choice?
Hey, Jdurant, those Rushforth wheels are sweet, but as I remember they are kinda pricey aren't they?

Re: new wheel tire choice?
Those enlarged rallies on that blazer are sick, if they were a production rim I would buy them

Re: new wheel tire choice?
I really like the chop with Ken's truck and 20 inch rallys
How about these as another option? I think they would look super sweet on a square

Re: new wheel tire choice?
Those style wheels have been a favorite of mine for a long while. There are quite a few similar on the market now. But I think if you have the ability and people to do it, do a custom, bigger, rally. Maybe they might look good in a 18/20 combo? Just kinda thinking out loud there.

Good luck and please keep us informed. Quote:
Edit-- Ken does make a good point above. I do think a big rally would look great on any squarebody but it makes more since on a truck that is all trimmed out rather than one that is smoothed and modernized. I hope my need to see a big rally made isn't forcing me to give you bad advise.

Re: new wheel tire choice?
Ok, let me throw my thoughts out here. You have a custom truck. It is shaved, smoothed and roll panned. It has a billet grill, and a bright custom color. Putting a rally wheel of any style on your truck is going to make it look unfinished. It will not set your truck off, it will set it back several steps.
I have no prob with you using my truck to chop, but it's not helping you either. Your truck is a bright colored step side. Adding a grey centered wheel might look good on it. Trying to make that decision based on what a wheel looks like on a black fleetside with all the bumpers and trim is not going to give you a clear visual of what will look good. Get a good side view pic of "your" truck and chop away. This will tell you much more but sometimes even that isn't enough.
