47-55 side mirrors

could someone please tell me the distace between the two bolts that are required to hold the stock side mirror to the door on a 47-55? my truck has 2 holes in each door that are 2.75 inches apart, and I m wondering if the stock mirror will work, thanks

Re: 47-55 side mirrors

Stock mirrors weren't on the doors, they were on the cowl in front of the doors.

Re: 47-55 side mirrors

dont you have them? it's just my thinking, but I wouldn't drill any holes without the mirrors for reference.

Question Re: 47-55 side mirrors

like said before the holes in your doors are probably for after market or west coast style. the factroy mirrors mounted to the cowl in front of the doors. factory mirrors will not work on the doors as the are made to fit the curve of the cowl. you should have the fatory holes in the cowl already. my truck was a 1.5 ton had west coast style mirrors and the factory hole were in my cowl. someone just put some carriage bolts in them to plug/fill the holes.

Re: 47-55 side mirrors

on my 49 the bottom hole is round and the top hole is slotted or oval but if it where round also the holes center lines would be 1 1/8" apart if the top hole was measured from the closest part of the slot to the bottom hole,if that makes since to ya,hope that helps? any other measurements you need just ask

Re: 47-55 side mirrors

1 7/8" center to center. This is where the STOCK mirror goes.
